How it all started

Garrett Camp and Travis Kalanick first introduced the Uber company to the world in 2009. In August 2014 the company first introduced its food delivery platform. It was UberFRESH in Santa Monica, California. In 2015 the company was renamed to its known name today “Uber Eats”. Apparently, in the beginning, the food delivery app was being merged with the ride-sharing Uber app. But with the rising fame, the Uber Eats decided to create a similar yet independent platform. The press informed that; “We learned quickly that requesting a ride and ordering a meal are two very different experiences, they each deserve their own home”. Thus, it created the online delivery platform Uber Eats.

Uber Eats For both IOS and Android

Uber Eats is now available for both IOS and Android. Firstly, the company tried many different types of deliveries. Store items such as cold medicines to toothpaste or fresh food. Firstly, the app had limited choices. They delivered only during lunch hours. You had 7 choices and they delivered simple meals like a salad, a sandwich, a juice, a pasta dish, and others depending on the day. However, Uber Eats started as a small side project in the beginning. But now they have stopped the ‘Lunch only’ category. At present, in its place is the Ubers’ GrubHub killer. Uber Eats app was first launched in Los Angeles and spread throughout during a month.

How the app work

  • Placing an Order

After installing the app, place your address and bank card details. You can scroll through the feed to find many food items. Select the preferred restaurant and its menu. Next, add the food items to the cart. After placing the selected food item on the cart, you will get to see your address. (which is added after the installation). And also, the delivery time, price and taxes. If everything is in order to place the order and the price will be deducted from your bank.

  • Track Order

After placing an order now, you can track your purchase. The app will show you the restaurant. How they accept your purchase and prepare. When the order is prepared an uber partner within the vicinity will be notified to pick it up. The uber partner’s details will be shown in your app. That person will bring the delivery to you within 10 to 15 minutes.

Uber Eats is Unique

As a matter of fact, the Uber Eats app does not provide you food from anywhere. It has a limited radius of distance from where you can order from. This policy allows for a faster food delivery system. As well as keep it in good condition. Unlike a 30 minutes delivery which will result in the food getting cold or lukewarm. The company believes that having a short distance removes all the problems for hungry customers.

Subsequently, to keep the work easy and consistent, the working hours have been narrowed down. It is from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm. The rating systems are different In the Uber Eats app. Unlike in the Uber app Uber eats does not have a star rating. On the other hand, it has a simple system. You can give a thumbs up if you liked it or a thumbs down if the service was dislikable.
